POLICE have launched an island-wide manhunt for the two suspects involved in the shooting death of 28-year-old Dantoine Burrows on Friday.

According to reports, shortly after 11am on Friday, two men were at Alexandria Boulevard in the Nassau Village subdivision when two men armed with a handgun and an assault rifle approached them.

The men ran and were pursued by their attackers.

One of the men, Burrows, tried to flee to a nearby barbershop but fell to the ground and was shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other male was pursued through Price Street, where he was shot multiple times. He was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he remains in serious condition.

The two gunmen fled the scene in a silver coloured Nissan vehicle, which was heavily tinted, and has a registration number of 282528.

Emotional residents gathered at Elizabeth Avenue in Nassau Village following the crime.

One relative of the murder victim called the incident a “tremendous shock,” adding that Mr Burrows was anticipating the birth of his first child in the next two months.

Another resident, Sandra Goodman, the owner of the property where Mr Burrows was shot and killed, broke into tears as she explained how a bullet penetrated her house.

“The bullet gone straight through where I was and it’s affecting me because that’s where I does have my grandchildren,” she said, adding that she has long urged her husband to have them all move from the area because of safety concerns.

Anyone with information on this killing is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

Robberies

Police are also asking for the public’s help in solving two armed robberies that took place over the weekend.

In the first incident, shortly before 7pm on Saturday, a man armed with a handgun robbed a business in the Seagrapes Shopping Centre of an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing on foot.

The Tribune understands the business was the Wendy’s restaurant located in the plaza. No one was hurt during the robbery.

In the second incident, shortly before 3am on Sunday, a woman had just pulled into the driveway of her Lumumba Lane home off Fox Hill Road in her white Odyssey van, license plate number 292954, when two men armed with a handgun robbed her of her vehicle. One of the men sped off in the victim’s vehicle, while the other man sped off in another car, a red Honda Accord.

Investigations are continuing.
