SOFTBALL

MEN’S ECASC TEAM

THE Bahamas Softball Federation has announced the players for the Bahamas team to compete in the English Caribbean Amateur Softball Confederation (ECASC) men’s championship on March 26 to 29 at the Baillou Sporting Complex. 

Countries confirmed to participate are Aruba, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Jamaica and the Turks and Caicos.

The team, managed by Godfrey ‘Gully’ Burnside and coached by Perry Seymour and Haziel McDonald, will be made up of Andrew Albury, Angelo Dillett, Desmond Russell, Edney Bethel, Garfield Bethel, Grant Albury, Jamal Johnson, Lamar Watkins, Lyle Sawyer, Marcus Holbert, Nigel Bottle Jr, Richard Bain, Sherman Ferguson, Thomas Davis, Wayne Johnson, William Weatherford and Zhivargo Archer.

THE New Providence Women’s Basketball Association will continue its regular season this week at the DW Davis Gymnasium.

Tuesday

7.30pm: Dee Saints v Super Value Cybots Queens.

Thursday

7.30pm: Career Builders Lady Cheetahs v Bommer Gee Lady Operators.

Saturday

7.30pm: Johnson Lady Truckers v Dee Saints.

9pm: Super Value Cybots Queens v Career Builders Lady Cheetahs.

VOLLEYBALL

NPVA WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS

THE Johnson’s Lady Truckers are probably still trying to find out what they have to do to dethrone the Scottsdale Vixens. 

On Friday night at the DW Davis Gymnasium, the Vixens clinched another women’s title, sweeping the Lady Truckers in three straight games, 25-21, 25-20, 25-12. 

The NPVA men’s division, however, sees the defending champions ScotiaBank Defenders trailing the Technicians 2-1 in their best-of-five series that was to continue yesterday. 

The Technicians won 25-20, 25-16, 26-24 in game three on Friday night. 

 If necessary, the fifth and deciding game will be played on Wednesday at 8pm.

BOXING

CHAMPION AMATEUR ‘BRING IT’ SHOW

THE Champion Amateur Boxing Club’s ‘Bring It’ amateur boxing show was held on Saturday night at the Wulff Road Boxing Square.

Rameko Dean beat Kenny Edmond  as the referee stopped contest in the third round.

Terry Rolle beat Emmanuel Rolle as the referee stopped the contest in the third round.

Tehniel Babbs won on points over Lethario Mckenzieo 36-35.

Dante’ Thomas won on points over Shandrick Francois 26-19.

Brian Cezilen won on points over Mikey Senatus 24-21.

Mackey Cleveaus won on points over Bendrey Jean 19-13.

Mario Stuart won on points over Fred Rolle as the referee stopped contest in the third round.

Keiran Sweeting won on points over Rudy Regis 31-29.

Ronald Joseph won on points over Jeno Jenoure 29-17.

Don Rolle won on points over Jonathan Cox 25-18.

In an exhibition match, Lennox Boyce and Donovan Taylor squared off.

Teniel Babbs and Latharia McKenzie hooked up in the best fight of the night; Don Rolle was the most improved boxer; Mackey Cleveaus was the most outstanding boxer and Meacher Major Boxing Club took the overall winning club award.

Next up is ‘The Heat Is On’ amateur boxing show on Saturday, March 21.
