Taxing those who grow our food

EDITOR, The Tribune.

I was pleased to see earlier today that the Fish and Farm Store of the Ministry of Agriculture & Marine Resources at Potter’s Cay had 50 pound bags of fertilizer for sale.

I was disgusted to see that VAT of 7.5 per cent was added to the purchase price.

This government says that they are trying to encourage people to grow some of the food that we consume.

Then they go ahead and add VAT to farming supplies.

They add VAT to a few bags of fertilizer, but they don’t check that the building contractor at BAMSI has insurance.

The builder is lucky that the only thing damaged by the fire was the building.

He would really be in trouble if someone was hurt or killed by the fire.
