Two shot, one stabbed in incidents over weekend

POLICE are asking for the public’s help in solving two shootings and a stabbing that occurred over the weekend that have left a man and woman in hospital in serious condition.

In the first incident, police said a man was walking on Soldier Road when two men in a black Nissan Sunny fired several shots at him. The assailants sped away from the scene. Police said the incident happened shortly after 10pm on Saturday.

Police said the man received minor injuries to his head and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

A woman was injured by gunfire in another incident at around 11pm Saturday police said.

According to reports, the woman had just pulled up in her vehicle to her home on Fire Trail Road when a man armed with a handgun fired a shot. As a result she was injured in the left jaw. Her vehicle was also damaged. Police said the gunman fled the scene on foot.

The woman was taken to the hospital where she remains in serious condition.

Meanwhile police are investigating the stabbing of a 22-year-old man early Sunday morning.

Police said the man was attending a party at his home in Sunshine Park when unknown males stabbed him in his body. It happened at around 1am on Sunday.

A short while later the victim was rushed to the hospital where he remains in serious condition, police said.
