Mr Christie not too long ago tried to allay our fears by saying that his government would not do anything stupid that would harm the people or the Bahamian economy.

Within days of saying this, his government admitted to having done both – BAMSI - $2.5m released and no one knows how and, after the BAMSI building was destroyed by fire we find that the building was never insured.

Without a doubt, the Bahamian people have paid for it and will now have to foot the bill to rebuild it.

This is just the most recent example of the stupid things that have been done by government with our money.

We cannot trust them to handle our money and we certainly cannot trust them to handle our health.

It is no secret that National Health Insurance cannot come on stream without additional funds.

The government has already increased departure tax and in a few months will be increasing various insurances that are already very high.

No country anywhere in the world has been able to introduce universal health care without additional taxes. We cannot afford it and we should not allow the government with its frivolous unaccountable spending to push this on us.
