Celebrate our entertainment icons

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Please allow me to address an open letter to the Minister of Tourism and the Minister of Sports & Culture in your columns.

For some time now I have wondered why our entertainment icons are not honoured on the “Wall of Fame” at Sir Lynden Pindling International airport.

Persons like Blind Blake, George Symonette, Peanuts Taylor, Chippie Chipman, Paul Meeres, Freddie Munnings, Eloise, André Toussaint, Count Bernardino, Ronnie Butler, The Obeah Man, King Eric Gibson and perhaps others who I unintentionally missed out.

All of these persons played a part over the past 60 years in the growth and development of the ‘Bahamian’ tourist experience and the development of our tourist industry from a three-month winter get away to a year-round industry. They have earned our gratitude for their unselfish contribution.

Let’s display their pictures in that hallway for all to see and be equally as proud of them as we are to our athletes.
