THE prosecution yesterday closed its case in an abetment to murder trial concerning the fatal stabbing of the teenage son of convicted drug traffickers Dwight and Keva Major.

Aaron Johnson, prior to concluding the Crown’s case against 35-year-old Kervin Neely, informed Justice Bernard Turner that he wished to exhibit the conviction certificate of Dwayne Peter Lockhart as a part of the Crown’s case against Neely.

The application was allowed and the certificate was tendered as evidence.

It is alleged that Neely purposely aided Lockhart in committing murder on June 1, 2014.

Enrico Major, the victim, was walking south on Baillou Hill Road near S C McPherson Junior High School when he was held up and stabbed in the head and back. He was 17 years old.

Lockhart, before the trial had started, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 24 years in prison.

Neely, however, has maintained his innocence and has retained Glendon Rolle to defend him.

With the close of the prosecution’s case, Neely may be called on to decide whether he will call witnesses in his defence, take the witness stand or both as his defence attorney opens his case.

Neely also has the right to rely only on the evidence presented by the prosecution as, unlike the Crown, he has nothing to prove.

Legal discussions between the judge, Crown and defence counsel are expected to take place today.
