Junkanoo Carnival is not political

EDITOR, The Tribune.

The attempt to make Junkanoo Carnival a political event has caused what is going to be an occasion for people who see the glass as half full to fully apply themselves and see the awesome benefits.

The unfortunate attempts to allow a great idea to be highjacked by a small band of negative people who cannot see past their noses.

Rather than split hairs about a name, the optimist started looking for ways how to reap a handsome payday.

Artist and artisans from across the political divide, musicians from every stratum of society and vendors who could care less about politics, go in line. The dollar bill is neither red nor gold.

The food storeowners only see money, not what is your politics. That is the irony of all this. People, who have no jobs, can help themselves, Junkanoo artists can empower their group members, and much needed revenue can be realized.

The sad part is, some of the same people who say, “Junkanoo Carnival is going to be unsuccessful” are the same ones who are sneaking in the shadows asking for special favours.

Never mind the noise in the market, and be careful who you repeat foolishness after.

The protestors in the day will be making money in the night.

The participation of all in these years Junkanoo Carnival will set the stage for better things to come. I am going to join my co-workers in making this a success. I will not let anyone deter me from enjoying myself.
