THE Junior Baseball League of Nassau opened its best-of-three game championship series in all divisions at the St Andrew’s Field of Dreams over the weekend.
The series between the pennant winners and the winners of the elimination games in game one resulted in some surprising results.

TEE BALL
The Blue Jays surprised the pennant winning Hot Fries with a closely contested 19-18 victory. Game 2 is scheduled for 5pm Tuesday.
COACH PITCH
No upset here as the pennant winning Mets blew away the Angels 11-3. Game 2 is scheduled for 5pm Wednesday.
MINOR LEAGUE
The pennant winning Yankees lost only one game in the regular season but did not show up on Saturday as they were upset by the Astros 15-5 in a blowout. Game 2 is scheduled for 6:30pm Tuesday.
MAJOR LEAGUE
Everybody expected a slugfest in the Twins-Reds matchup but nobody expected the Twins to hit nine home runs in this game. Despite the power surge by the Twins, it was a closely contested game and the final score was 18-14 for the pennant winners – Twins. Game 2 is scheduled for 6:30pm Thursday.
JUNIOR LEAGUE
The Rays were riding a series of upsets to get into the series but ran out of steam in game 1 as they fell to the pennant winning Dodgers 12-5. Game 2 is scheduled for 5pm Wednesday.
SENIOR
LEAGUE
The pennant winning Braves blew out the Brewers 11-5 to take a one-game lead. Game 2 is scheduled for 5pm Thursday.
