RBC presents $35,000 sponsorship cheque to Bahamas Swim Federation

RBC Royal Bank today announced it has renewed its commitment as the title sponsor of the RBC 2015 National Swimming Championships. Facilitated by the Bahamas Swimming Federation (BSF), the National Swimming Championships are scheduled for June 25-28.

This year, 12 swim clubs and 500 athletes, including international swimmers, are scheduled to participate as they are all seeking to qualify for the World Championships and the Rio Olympics.

The Swimming Nationals are slated to begin at 9am with evening sessions at 6pm on June 25.  All events will be held at the Betty Kelly Kenning National Swim Complex.

“RBC Royal Bank’s sponsorship for 32 consecutive years of our National Swimming Championships is indeed remarkable. Specifically, there is no other private enterprise/sporting organisation sponsorship that has outlived our relationship with RBC Royal Bank, and certainly, no organisation with the international reach of RBC that continues to provide support to the development of sporting and academic citizens, through RBC’s additional support of our Academic All Bahamian BSF Scholars.  This speaks well for the future development of our young Bahamians engaged in aquatic sports and also well for RBC’s commitment to the development of young Bahamians in general,” said Algernon Cargill, president of the BSF.

“At RBC Royal Bank, supporting our youth is one of the core areas of focus for our community involvement programmes, including our long-standing sponsorship of the Bahamas Swimming Federation,” said Mrs Patrice Ritchie, RBC’s area vice president, New Providence. “Swimming not only exercises the body, but also requires setting personal goals and working hard to meet and exceed those goals. Involvement in these activities teaches these young athletes how to be the best they can be.”

This year’s competitors feature members of the 2015 Bahamas national swim team who emerged as the 2015 CARIFTA champions. “On behalf of RBC, I wish to congratulate the Bahamas Swimming Federation on producing an outstanding team of athletes who represented The Bahamas in the 2015 CARIFTA Championships,” said Mrs Ritchie. “This achievement impacts not just the team and the individual winners, it has created a source of pride for our entire nation.”

“This year’s Swimming Nationals features a highly talented pool of athletes,” said Cargill. “We are anticipating a highly competitive meet and are pleased that RBC Royal Bank is again partnering with us as the title sponsor.”

Tickets to each day’s events can be purchased at the door. The Betty Kelly Kenning National Swim Complex is located at the Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre.
