MINISTER for Grand Bahama Dr Michael Darville yesterday welcomed the winners of the Vita Malt Basketball Championship - from St George’s High School - to his office.

Accompanied by the coaching staff of Greg Munroe, Calvin McIntosh, Stephanie Higgs and head coach Darrell Sears, the minister chatted with the team and the coaching staff about the importance of being well-rounded.

The minister told the athletes that while it is good to be an outstanding athlete, they must never forget the importance of keeping their grades up as it will assist with their entrance to the better colleges.

Minister Darville also said that in the event of an injury, with a proper education, they will have something to fall back on.

The athletes all thanked their coaches for not only teaching them about basketball, but other important life lessons.
