BAIN OUSTED

RISING tennis star Jacobi Bain lost in the semi-finals of the Celisus Thanksgiving Level 6 Tournament to seventh seed Yeudy Villar 6-1, 6-1 yesterday in Sarasota, Florida.

Bain 12, had advanced to the last four with a 6-2, 6-0 quarter-final win over Russell Berdusco, from Bradenton, Florida.

BAISS CHAMPIONSHIP

THE Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools (BAISS) will begin their best-of-three softball championships on Tuesday at Freedom Farm Baseball League.

The junior girls and boys will begin competition at 4pm, followed by the senior girls and boys. Game two in all four series will be played on Wednesday at the same place and time.

BSC CLASSIC

THE Baptist Sports Council has announced that their 2015 Softball Classic will get underway on Tuesday, November 17, at the Banker’s Field at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex. St Paul’s will play Golden Gates in the co-ed game at 7pm and in the men’s game that will follow at 8pm.

On Thursday, November 19, Macedonia will play a double header against New Birth Ministries in the co-d and men’s divisions.

On Saturday, starting at 1pm, Jordan Prince Williams Falcons and Charles W Saunders will battle in an 19-and-under division.

All the other teams entered in the league will play their first games after the much anticipated senior boys rematch between the match-up from the BAISS. All of the other teams will compete on Saturday.

BSC CLASSIC

THE Baptist Sports Council will hold their 2015 Track and Field Classic on Saturday at the Thomas A Robinson Track and Field Stadium. The event will begin at 10am with competition staged in the 10-and-under, 15-and-under, 20-and-under, open and masters categories for both men and women.

Events from the 100 to 800 metres as well as both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 metre relays will be contested on the track. On the field, competitors will get a chance to compete in the high and long jumps and the shot put, discus and javelin.

Medals will be presented to the first three finishers in each category and trophies will be presented to the most outstanding athlete in each category.

The registration fee is $5 per athlete, who will only be allowed to participate in three individual events, one field and two track or two track and one field.
