Stefan Laursen and Elizabeth Shaddock hold up their winner’s trophies at the Conchman Triathlon.
THE 29th Conchman Triathlon was held on Saturday in Grand Bahama with Stefan Laursen and Elizabeth Shaddock emerging as the overall male and female champions.
Laursen, who hails from Fairfax, California, won the gruelling swim, bike and run event in one hour 15 minutes and 20 seconds. The 45-year-old was the first competitor out of the water as he clocked 12min 08sec in the swim, and despite being second fastest on the bike in 42min 39sec, he kept a healthy lead. He was fastest on the run in 20min 33sec to take the top spot.
Romeo Seymour, a 44-year-old native of Grand Bahama, came second overall in 1hr 24min 52sec and Mark Davis, 55 of Nassau, was third in 1:25.29.
In the female race, Shaddock of Nassau won in 1hr 35min 02sec. The 35-year-old, who was fifth in the overall field, was sixth in the swim, third fastest on the bike and first in the run as she beat Sylvia Bateman from Grand Bahama, who managed 1:36.14 for second. Wima Stefanutti, a 26-year-old also from Grand Bahama, was third in 1:37.30.

Male 1-16 - Lamar Taylor, Grand Bahama, 1:57.37.
Female 17-29 - Kadesha Culmer, Grand Bahama, 1:51.52; Florence St George, Grand Bahama, 2:07.14.
Male 17-29 - Justin Lewis, Grand Bahama, 1:45.08.
Male 30-39 - Ray Cumberbatch, Grand Bahama, 1:36.23.
Female 40-49 - Vicki Stafford, Grand Bahama, 1:39.18; Linda Fijol, Hadley, Florida, 1:39.31; Beverly Hendrix, Peachtree Corners, 1:58.28.
Male 40-49 - John Francolla, Grand Bahama, 1:32.44; Kyle Smith, Grand Bahama, 2:09.41; Gary Pledger, Chickasaw, 2:12.57.
Female 50-59 - Lynette McInnes, Grand Bahama, 1:55.47.
