UPDATE: Three men die in separate shooting and stabbing incidents

THE murder toll in the Bahamas in 2015, already at record annual levels, has risen further with three killings in three separate incidents in 20 hours between Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

Two shooting homicides occurred in New Providence and the other was a stabbing in Grand Bahama. All three victims were male.

The latest murder took place shortly after 3pm on Saturday, when a man sitting in the driveway of his home at Jacaranda Street, Pinewood Gardens, was approached by two men in a grey jeep and was shot. The two men sped off and are being sought by the police. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police are also requesting the public’s assistance in locating four men responsible for a shooting death shortly before midnight on Friday of a man sitting in a vehicle at Ghana Circle, Elizabeth Estates. They report that four men approached and shot him before fleeing on foot. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police in Grand Bahama are investigating the stabbing death of an adult man in Eight Mile Rock shortly after 7pm on Friday. An adult man is in custody.

The murder total for the year has reached 133 according to The Tribune's records.

Still looking at a possible 152 murders for 2015 based on the current trend. Around June the law of averages was pointing at 150. Now it's showing 152,3 . Meaning there has been an increase in the number of murders per month in the second half 2015.

I would put the blame for these murders squarely at the feet of this devilish PLP government for many reasons, one of the main ones being that they advertised to the world ,putting placards on the murder count under the previous government,on our main thoroughfares showing them to all of our visitors. With tourism being our number one industry and the vast majority of PLP supporters thinking the way they do,they believed that the placards was a brilliant idea and they want to show that under the PLP government they can do better and will soon ask Perry to display some new placards showing the world of the improvement.

Would it be fair, if I counted your vote among the 102,084?

Comrades based alone upon how people feel about the lack of programs or constructive ideas thus far presented by either of the three political parties to mount effective anti-crime programs, let's see what voters would do today?

During the 2012 General a total of 75,815 people voted for the PLP to win the government and 65,633 wanted the FNM win, and 13,225 were holding out hope for a DNA win.

Let's fast-forward to how these same 154,673 people feel today. No matter what party they voted for back in 2012, if a General Election were held today, an astounding 102,084 of the same people, stretched right across our Bahamaland, wouldn't walk into their polling stations to cast their votes for either FNM, PLP, or DNA candidates, if only they could be given an viable alternative slate candidates to vote for.

Comrade Thisisours what if any and all candidates previously elected MP.s or nominated to run for either of the three parties, would automatically be denied nomination? I would also exclude all current and former senators and known political "cronies" and consultants. In short order, has be a fresh politically bunch.
What if I threw in an equal ratio 50/50 female to male candidates?

TruePeople 8 years, 5 months ago

I always thought we had a higher voting turn out than that.... guess not.....

50 / 50 Gender may be interesting but we don't even have gender equality so i don't see them doing that first. As for Brand new everything in the HOA.... i think that's the only possible solution, although it is not itself garenteed to be any better

The sad thing is that this country was put on notice since early in the year that the murder count was headed towards 150. And as you can see nothing substantial was done to stem the killings and as you can see the incidence of murder continues to increase. If fact if no strong and descisive measures are taken, this country will be recording around 179 murders next year. There are just too many people getting away with killing someone,at least for a good while. Less persons will go before the courts for committing murder this year than the number that committed the crime and are still free.this is one of the main things that needs to be fixed

Also keep in mind that the police and the judiciary are running scared...so what hope?

Except, of course, if you're a rich, white lady from Lyford Cay, with the best legal team money can buy!! Extraordinary..........

Witnesses are also being threatened, intimidated and even murdered. The penalty for those convicted must be more severe. Attempts must be made to trace killers back to those who authorized the hits. It is understood that some may already be in jail. Their communication with civil society must be completely cut off. More efforts must be made to identify, arrest and charge gang members and give them stiff jail sentences Grt them off the streets.

MOTORIST in New Probidence are urged to be vigilant when approaching traffic lights and intersections. It is understood that a female approaches vehicles and attempts to gain access. Once she is inside she is joined by a male accomplice who robs the motorist at gunpoint. The female is also armed with a knife and have used it to stab victim.

Did you speak to someone who was actually robbed in this manner or did you receive this via a WhatsApp forward?

Notice: not everything forwarded to you in WhatsApp is true. No matter how dire it sounds or which friend forwarded it to you. Remember that game you played in high school to see how far a message would get and what it would sound like when it got back to you? Well, this is the 21st century version of that game. I'd guess that in 90% of the cases, you're being punked by a 10 year old who just got a smart phone for his birthday.

help save the world: assume that WhatsApp is the devil, then check for horns and a tail before you hit "Send"

Emac 8 years, 5 months ago

Agreed! Too many people get caught up in this WhatsApp propaganda

1

John 8 years, 5 months ago

I did not receive it by wats app but someone called at 12 last night and said a friend was robbed in this way when he was on his way to work. Since I had family who get off at 2am and 5 am I posted it. If it's just a mischievous prank then I apologize. But I did go and meet them and follow them home last nite

TruePeople 8 years, 5 months ago

At the same time this type of crime is not exactly far-fetched... i dun know girls who seduce a victim to his house just so they can let next man in to robb the place ... den she can act like she eien know what up and act scared an all dat non-sense.... when it's done she gets her cut

Tal, Tal the PLPs pal

Doesn't know what side she belongs.

Sometimes she’s confused

By things in the news

Even Tho’ she knows rights from wrongs.

She lives her life comfy in a bubble

Tho' she knows quite well, the PLP’s trouble.

Tal takes delight in twisting truths

For PG Christie, who rewards her with loots.

Now she's content with her split personality

But everyone else knows that in reality

That her beloved PLP spells calamity!

that is an awesome piece of poetry

Comrades Emac is but a creature who writes for the very party which later today, even the Tribune will publish there lies much greater conflict within the red party, than even their reporters could have imagined.
How accurately Tribune reporters will cover this story, remains to be read and blogged about?
Let's see how creatively will Emac write when there is much more red party conflict brewing against their leader, than support Minnis.
Who will Emac write 'against', once his beloved party has had its last day as a political force?

Why are we even worrying about the murder rate, the people who are dying, well it's their choice to play that game.

There are only a few real murders each year, that is murders of real and uninvolved people.

The balance, the 100 plus criminals murdered by their own , they play by their own rules, so let them play!

As a solution lets just stop counting, stop reporting, and forget the problem.

Cobalt 8 years, 5 months ago

Huh???

I'm guessing Chucky is Perry Christie.

0

TruePeople 8 years, 5 months ago

I want the real criminals to dead off them one another, but instead they make business deals in the HOA and skrew us over

That is the dumbest thing I heard all year Chucky! Get real.

But Perry prayed to God in this teachable moment. It's not Perrys fault if God doesn't do anything - you trying to kill the messenger here!

Tal, in truth, I really can't stand the FNM party of today. I am liken to the philosophy of the Tribune. I swear to the dogmas of no man, party or religion.

Comrade Emac, I swear to the dogmas of no man, party or religion.that i dont believe a word about the Tribune reporters, adhering Leon Dupuch's motto. Could they get any more red shirt?
