Baha Mar troubles

EDITOR, The Tribune.

I was pleased ex Cabinet Minister Brent Symonette at least admitted that there was enough blame around the Cable Beach site of Baha Mar to go around for both the Christie Government who initially approved the project and the Ingraham, FNM Government of which Mr Symonette was a Minister.

Thinking back to November-December 2014 and the statement then by Mr Sarkis Izmirlian continues to come up in my thought process and I wonder was Mr Izmirlian correct when he made the very serious allegations about the General Contractor?

As a recent letter writer’s opinion, it was a constant tread from Baha Mar Public Relations - everything on schedule and everything on Budget - unless there was a massive breakdown how then in months it went to... OMG we are bankrupt and admit it by trying to rush to Delaware Chapter 11?

Can a professional please explain that to complete back in July 2015, only 3 1/2 months ago has gone from $300m to $600m? God, if the project does not crank up for the next six months, the totals will exceed $1 billion+ ..... the project cost was $3.25 billion.

What is for sure whoever advised Mr Christie initially on the financial capability of the developer was exceedingly wrong in his advice - second chance when Harrah’s came along and the Ingraham Government dropped the ball and then finally for Christie with Izmirlian and EXIM.

It seems reasonably fair to admit it is obvious the advisers to government misadvised their bosses so now an avoidable is now the reality.
