ON DA HOOK: Confidence is key

FISHING is like any other sport you decide to engage in and embrace.

From the moment you hit the dock, your confidence levels should be at an all time high - gearing up to compete against your opponent.

At first you should be confident in your game plan. The night before you should have prepared a plan of attack. Do not wait until the morning while sitting at the dock: planning takes time and to be successful you need the right game plan.

Next you should be confident in your boat and tackle box. Your boat should be prepared and ready to hit the high seas, full of fuel, oil, safety equipment etc.

Your tackle box should show off your confidence. The time you spend arranging and organising your lures, leaders, rods and reels is proof you are ready for battle.

Lastly, you should be confident in your own skills. Attack the day embracing your abilities to land a prized fish - if you have put in the preparation you will be successful.

Keep checking the Bahamas Sport Fishing Network (BSFN) expert page for fishing reports throughout the Bahamas: this will be very helpful in tracking the “hot spots” and providing advice on gear and fishing methods being used.

For a sample of the spectacular fishing to be had in The Bahamas, expert advice, tournament dates and results, informative features and photo galleries visit the BSFN page at tribune242.com or www.bsfn.biz.

BSFN slideshows can be found on USA Today’s website in the Travel section at experience.usatoday.com. The latest one - What’s the catch? Terrific tuna caught in the Bahamas - was posted last month.
