THE students of Anatol Rodgers High School will have a new bus to transport them to and from academic and sporting activities after Minister of Environment and Housing, Kenred Dorsett, donated a 2015 Toyota Bus yesterday.

The 24-seat bus fulfilled one of three promises Mr Dorsett made to the school and constituents when he became MP for Southern Shores.

Mr Dorsett said he expects this donation to boost the morale of the students at a school which was once considered a bad apple but which has now become a choice school known for excellence. “Anatol has risen as one of the brightest stars in the constellation of the government schools, excelling academically and athletically through the leadership of the principal, teachers, parents and students,” he told a special assembly at the school.

Principal of Anatol Rodgers, Myrtle Mcphee, said: “All good things come to those who wait.” She added that while waiting for about three years before receiving the bus they have learned the value of patience. She said that the new bus will be a tremendous help to the school, relieving the administrators, teachers and parents of the financial burden of having to pay bus drivers to take students to and from different events.
