SOFTBALL

NPOTSA ACTION

THE New Providence Oldtimers Softball Association continued its divisional playoffs in the Archdeacon William Thompson Softball Park at the Southern Recreation Grounds over the weekend.

Here’s a summary of the games played:

Platinum Sharks 27,

Hardy XO 22

Clayton Bowles had three hits, including two home runs and he drove in six runs (RBI), while scoring three more for the Sharks. Foster Dorsett was the winning pitcher and Gary Wright suffered the loss.

DKS Crusaders 16,

Homeboys 15

Stephen Brown had four hits with two RBI, scoring five times to pace the Crusaders to their win. Hector Rolle was the winning pitcher and Sidney Thomas was tagged with the loss.

BASKETBALL 

JUNKANOO JAM

THE 13th year of the Junkanoo Jam, brought to the Bahamas by Basketball Travellers, highlights one of NCAA’s elite in season women’s basketball tournaments. It’s scheduled for the Thanksgiving weekend November 26-28 and will be played at the St George’s Gym.

There are 10 competing of Baylor University, Boston College, Denver University, Louisiana Tech University, Michigan State University, Oklahoma University, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), University of Cincinnati, University of Notre Dame and University of Utah. In the NCAA Division, Notre Dame is #3 and Baylor is #5.

BOXING

YEAR-END SHOW

CHAMPION Amateur Boxing Club is scheduled to hold its final round for 2015, the ‘Fight to the Finish’ with the 21st annual Ray Minus Sr End of Year Amateur Boxing Tournament.

It’s an evening of explosive and exciting competition hosted by Champion Amateur Boxing Club. It’s scheduled for 7pm Saturday, December 19 at the Wulff Road Boxing Square.

The main attraction will be a welterweight title championship match betweenTrae Davis (Freeport) vs Lennox Boyce (Nassau). There will also be a rematch betwee nDaedae Eugene (Nassau) and Glovels Escament (Abaco).

The show will showcase Champion Amateur Boxing Club, Freeport Boxing Team, Abaco Boxing Team, Major Pain Boxing Club, Strikers Boxing Club and the Lion Heart Boxing Club.

Awards will be presented to most improved boxer; most outstanding boxer, best fight of the tournament, boxer of the year award and the Ray Minus Sr Trophy. All amateur boxers and boxing clubs are welcome to participate.

BSC ACTION

THE Baptist Sports Council will be in full swing with its regular season action this week in the Banker’s Field at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex.
