LEAGUE

THE top scorer in City Bowling League competition last night was Sonith Lockhart of Carib Construction who downed the pins for a huge 667 high three game set. Runner-up MVP was Lee Davis of Ten Back Strikers with another big set of 650. Yule Hoyte of Ten Back Strikers had an impressive 256 high game with Ritchie Pyfrom dropping the pins for a 245 second high game.

The ladies’ MVP of the evening was Joy Lockhart of Coca Cola Avengers with a 198 second high game and a 533 high three game set. Lockhart was followed by Joanne Powell of Bahamasair Flyers who toppled the pins for a 524 second high set. The high game was a respectable 213 from Janice Hoyte of Ten Back Strikers. Team scores for the evening were:

PROVIDENCE

THE Bahamas Amateur Cycling Federation is scheduled to hold its annual Bertram ‘Cowboy’ Musgrove Tour De New Providence Cycling Classic over the weekend of October 30to Novembr 1. The event is designed for competitors in the level 1 for male, level II, level III and level IV for men and women.

On Saturday, October 30, all levels of the individual time trials over three miles is slated to begin 7am at the Frank Watson Highway. Then at 8:15am, the circuit road race, covering 24 miles, will follow.

On Sunday, November 1, the level I and II 50 miles road race will start and finish at Goodman’s Bay, starting at 6:40am. The levels III and IV, covering 30 miles, will follow at 7:40am.

There will be prizes for the oldest cyclists, youngest cyclists and the most aggressive cyclists.

CONGRATS

THE Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association congratulates Jacobi Bain and Elana Mackey, who have been invited by the International Tennis Federation to participate in a Regional Under-13 Training Camp for the top players in the region. The training camp ends Sunday in La Libertad, El Salvador.

Both players were selected with the criteria of being in the top eight from that age bracket in the COTECC ranking.

“We wish both Jacobi and Elana the best as they travel to La Libertad, El Salvador, to acquire more knowledge on how to improve their game,” the BLTA said in a press release.

The duo will be accompanied by coach Bradley Bain.

DOUBLES TOURNEY

THE Doubles Bowling Tournament, under the auspices of the Bahamas Bowling Federation, is all set to be held on October 17 at Mario’s Bowling and Family Entertainment Palace. THE Government Secondary Schools Sports Association has yet to announce when they will commence their 2015/16 season.

By now, the association should have already started its volleyball league, but a dispute in the administration of the league has forced a delay in the start of the games. So far, no word has been released on when the league will get started.

BSC CLASSIC

THE Baptist Sports Council has announced that its 2015 softball classic will begin at the Banker’s Field in the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex on Saturday, November 7.

The league will feature competition in the under 15, under-19, co-ed and men’s division. The registration fee is $200 per team per division.

THE Baptist Sports Council has announced that its 2015 volleyball classic will be held at the DW Davis Gymnasium on Saturday, October 31.

The league will comprise of the ladies and men’s divisions or a co-ed will replace the ladies if there isn’t sufficient teams. The registration fee is $200 per team. BSC TRACK MEET

BECAUSE of the public holiday weekend, the Baptist Sports Council has announced that it will move its 2015 track and field competition from Saturday, October 10 to Saturday, November 14 at the Thomas A Robinson Track and Field Stadium.

At that time, the BSC will attempt to introduce its battle of the band, step and banner competitions between the various associations within the Baptist organisation.
