VAT filing date extended

THE Department of Inland Revenue has advised value added tax registrants in islands directly impacted by Hurricane Joaquin that their VAT return filing date has been extended by one month. This extension only applies to those registrants in Cat Island, Mayaguana, Inagua, Exuma, Long Island, San Salvador, Rum Cay, Acklins, Crooked Island, Long Cay and Samana Cay, a statement from the Department of Inland Revenue said.

For residents in those islands, the extended VAT filing date is November 30, 2015. This is for both quarterly and monthly returns that are due on October 28, 2015.

Comrades in Ministry Finance why would you offer an automatic VAT extension time to file. Why not if your business requires an extension that is hurricane faulted, then you make the request.
