Worker’s plea for support

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Good night Mr Greenslade, It is almost 11 at night and I cannot sleep because I am really bothered by the injustice that is going on in this country.  I know you have a lot on your plate, and honestly, I don’t mean to add to it, but my head is being bombarded with thoughts, which prevented me from sleeping, so I decided to shoot you an email.  Here is my situation. . .

I was working at a security company called, “Myer’s Security” run by a man name “Myer Bowleg”.  I worked with him from August 30th, 2015-September 16th, 2015, before I was fired.  I worked 16 of those days at 16 hours per day.  On September 16th, I was fired due to wrongful allegations brought against me. However, to this day I had not received my salary what I had already worked for.  It did not bother me that I was let go, but Myer Bowleg has no reason not to pay me after working me all of those days and hours.

I went to the Department of Labour, who tried to reach him to have a meeting relative to this matter, but is unable to.  I went to the Ministry of Education, who instructed this man to have me fired due to him being sub-contracted to render security services at the H. O Nash Jr High School, but it seems as though they are ignoring the matter. Within hours, I was fired, even without me getting the opportunity to answer a single question relative to the allegations, yet over a month now I am still not paid.

This man has gone to extreme lengths to deny the fact that he owed me, accused me of theft and threatened me with bodily harm. Now I am no criminal and have always tried to do the right thing. But what am I to do when my advantage is being taken and I am reaching out begging for help but having the matter ignored? What am I to do, sir? All I want is what I had worked for and entitled to.

My meeting is scheduled for Wednesday the 20th, but up until today, Labour Board is unable to locate this character to bring him in for a meeting.

Mr Greenslade let me say this to you, sir, many of those young men behind bars should be let out of prison, even if they had committed the offence. Why? Because like me, who knows how long they have been reaching out desperately crying for help, but no one cared about what they were going through. Unlike me, sir, not everyone sits down and thinks about the aftermath of their decision making.

All they know is, someone is taking my advantage, I begged for help, didn’t get any, so they took the law into their own hands.

Right now, sir, I had just buried my mother in July of this year, then September of this year, my brother went missing and was found dead in bushes. So before I had a chance to grieve for my mother, my brother went missing, on top of this and other situations that I am dealing with. I’m very stressed, sir, and it’s not like anything is this country is for free. As simple as trying to make a few copies of evidence requires money.  I don’t have no money for attorneys and all this other stuff.  I don’t have the resources to locate this man. He is an employee of the Ministry of Education and they are responsible for making him pay me my salary which I had already worked for.

I mean things in this country needs to change and church leaders can cry until judgment day to young folks to stop the violence, but if you see measures are not put in place to fight for the injustice and dishonesty that is being preyed upon people like me, there will be more and more bloodshed on our streets.

Anyway, as I lay here contemplating, I just needed someone to express my pain to, because I am really tired.

Sorry to say but... Dog eat your lunch!

I feel for you. But this criminal boss is connected to government and there is no-way you are going to get anywhere. Our AG probably knows this guy well and will not touch this.

You have to move on and try not to beat the stink off this guy whenever you run into him again (even though it sounds like he deserves it).
