IT’S almost that time again when the ladies of Nassau will have the opportunity to pull out their fanciest hats and most elegant gloves, all in the name of helping to repair the hearts of children.

Under the theme,“Tea Fit for Royalty”, the Heart Ball Committee will host is ninth annual Tea Party and Fashion on November 15. It is expected to be an afternoon of fun, fashion and elegance.

Traditionally held at Government House, the Tea Party and Fashion Show serves as a fundraising event for The Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation.

This year’s event is expected to feature designs by numerous local fashion houses. Vendors for the event will be announced at a later time.

The Heart Ball Committee is the fundraising arm of the Heart Foundation. The Heart Foundation’s mission is to help repair the hearts of children throughout the islands of the Bahamas.

The Heart Ball Committee hosts two major fundraisers yearly: the Tea Party and Fashion Show and the Heart Ball. More than 97 per cent of all funds raised go towards repairing the hearts of children. To date, over 4,000 have been helped by the Heart Foundation.

“Recently, we’ve seen an increase in the number of paediatric heart surgeries needed each year,” said Lottie Palumbo, co-chairperson of the Heart Ball Committee.

“Local and regional cardiologists and hospitals have been great, extending significant price reductions to Heart Foundation’s patients. Even so, procedures remain expensive and so community support of our fundraisers is crucial to ensure that children who cannot afford care, get the care they need.”
