MINISTER of National Security Dr Bernard Nottage yesterday launched the Operational Forensic Ballistics Project in the Caribbean: A Perspective for the Bahamas Executive Seminar.

The three-day event, which is being hosted by the United States Embassy, gives local law enforcement officers training from the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace, Disarmament, and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean’s (UNLIREC) Operational Forensic Ballistics Project.

As a part of the seminar, 16 senior Royal Bahamas Police Force officers will be provided a broad overview of the importance of forensic ballistics in investigating, analysing, and prosecuting crimes involving firearms.

Present at yesterday’s opening ceremony was Kristen Gilmore, director of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Section at the United States Embassy in Nassau, and UNLIREC’s Project Advisor Natasha Leite.
