Rotary Club of East Nassau. - On July 31st, the Rotary Club of East Nassau hosted guest speaker David McLaughlin.

David is an auto racing enthusiast, owner, collector and motor sport event manager. In 2011, along with local partners, David re-launched Bahamas Speed Week that ran for three years and attracted many high net worth visitors to our shores.

David visited RCEN to speak about Edukarting. Currently, two one-week summer programs are being run to teach 11 – 17 year olds wide-reaching skills. The fun of driving a cart attracts the youngsters to the program, but they also learn life skills such as teamwork, business building, and sales & marketing.

Edukarting will soon have a permanent site off of Gladstone Road in Nassau where all automotive related skill will be taught. This is a wonderful program where teams are created that include a Crew Chief, Mechanic, Financial Officer, Public Relations, and Art & Design - just like in the real world of auto racing. David also emphasized that racing can become a sport tourism attraction for the country, and briefly shared his vision of the near future.

The Rotary Club of East Nassau is proud to support the Edukarting program and is looking forward to joint events with the program and participants.
