Man killed as car crashes into pole

A 24-year-old Grand Bahama man was killed and another was seriously injured in a traffic accident in Freeport early on Saturday morning.

The victim, believed to be Ethan Thompson, was driving a 2006 grey Chevy Cobalt which collided into a utility pole on Sergeant Major Road, south of Indianman Road, shortly after 2am.

Inspector Terecita Pinder reported that the two male occupants were trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by emergency personnel using the ‘Jaws of Life’. One of the men, she said, had died at the scene and the other male passenger was transported to Rand Memorial Hospital, where his injuries are listed as serious.

Police have not released the names of the victims and are continuting their investigation into the accident.
