HONDURAS

JUNIOR BOWL

WHILE Wayne Russell got eliminated, Jacobi Bain is still alive in the Honduras Junior Bowl 2015 Tennis Tournament.

In the under-12 boys qualifying first round, Russell lost 6-21, 6-1 to Oscar Balanos of Spain. Bain, however, defeated Alessandro Bizzarri, Carlos Marchetti and Rodrigo Diaz in identical scores of 4-0, 4-0 respectively in the first three rounds to win the Pool A with a 3-0 win-loss record. Bain got a bye in the main draw where he will play the under-14 boys semi-final today.

MASTERS SOFTBALL

RESULTS

THE Masters Softball League continued its regular season over the weekend at the Archdeacon William Thompson Softball Park at the Southern Recreation Grounds. The following results were posted:

Platinum Care 14,

Doc’s Stallions 4

Julian Taylor went 3-for-4 with a RBI and four runs scored as Foster Dorsett got the win on the mound over Warren Butler.

DKS Crusaders 17,

Global Rebels 10

Andy ‘Smudge’ Ford had a perfect 4-for-4 outing with four RBI and five runs scored to help Hector Rolle pick up the win on the mound over Val Munroe.

Da Boyz 22,

Global Rebels 12

Richard Bastian was 3-for-4 with a home runs, two RBI and three runs scored and Dominic Elliott was 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored to paced the winners. Franklyn ‘Bim’ Martin was the winning pitcher and Sidney Thomas suffered the loss.

DKS Crusaders 13,

Corner Boys 5

Stephen Beneby went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored and Burton Saunders was 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in the win. Don Dean picked up the win and Harold ‘Banker’ Fritzgerald got tagged with the loss.

The league is slated to be back in action this weekend at the park.

NPSA SOFTBALL

THE New Providence Softball Association is scheduled to return to action with another double header, starting at 7pm tonight.

They will also play a double header at the same time in the Banker’s Field on Thursday and Saturday nights.

JBLN

REGISTRATION

THE Junior Baseball League of Nassau announces that registration for the 2016 season for new and returning players is open for on-line registration on their website - www.jblnbaseball.com. The JBLN pre-season is slated to run November 11 to December 13.

The 2016 season is set to start on January 13 with opening day ceremonies on Saturday, January 16. Registration will close at 2pm on Saturday, September 26. There will be registration payment and confirmation days at the JBLN fields 10am to 2pm on Saturdays, September 12, 19 and 26.

Tryouts will be held 11am to 1pm on Saturday, October 3 and the 2016 draft will follow at 1pm at the baseball fields.

DARTS

METING

THE Nassau Darts Association has announced that its annual general meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at Tailgaters on East Bay Street.

The meeting is set to begin at 7:30pm with the opening of registration followed at 8pm by the commencement of the AGM. All club members are asked to attend and be on time as important matters will be discussed.
