Grace blows out in mid-Atlantic

TROPICAL depression Grace dissipated at 11am on Wednesday, proving a short-lived tropical cyclone in the eastern Atlantic that, like other named storms before it, succumbed to unfavourable dry air and wind shear conditions.

Grace was downgraded to a tropical depression on Tuesday and 24 hours later, meteorologists at the US National Hurricane Centre declared it disbanded 825 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. The seventh named storm of the 2015 Atlantic hurricane season, Grace travelled just over 1,600 miles from its initial point as a tropical depression on Saturday.

Elsewhere in the Atlantic, another tropical depression is expected to pass well east of Bermuda and forecast to become a tropical storm later on Wednesday or overnight. The depression is centred about 260 miles east-south-east of Bermuda and moving east-south-east at 3mph.
