CYCLING

GRAND BAHAMA

CHAMPIONSHIPS

THE 11th Annual Grand Bahama Road Cycling Championships is slated to be held on Saturday with competition in categories 1, 2 and 3 to see who will take home the crown of Grand Bahama Road Cycling champions.

2015 marks 11 years since the first championship was held on Grand Bahama, but the event has only had eight editions with eight male and two female champions.

The women’s division was ruled by Vicki Stafford until Shannon McBrayer came along to claim the crown in 2014.

In the men’s division, there was no such domination as each year saw a “changing of the guard.”

Last year’s male champion was Bahamas national team member Roy Colebrooke Jr, who won in a photo finish sprint.

Will he be the first male to win in consecutive years, or will a former champion return to reprise his role as GBCC champion?

The event starts at 8am from the east of the airport round-a-bout. The registration fee is $20 for adults and $10 for juniors.
