Royal visit as Princess Anne heads to the Bahamas

THE government announced yesterday that Princess Anne, the daughter of Queen Elizabeth, will arrive in Nassau on Sunday for the first stop on her pop-in tour of the Caribbean-Canada Emerging Leaders’ Dialogue, a unique leadership development and educational initiative which is taking place all over the Caribbean.

Shortly after she arrives in the Bahamas, Princess Anne will attend a reception at Government House and a Governor General Youth Awards presentation scheduled for the next day.

According to a press release, Caribbean-Canada Emerging Leaders’ Dialogue (CCELD) “builds on the existing strong bonds between Caribbean countries and Canada. The dialogue is focused on broadening the perspective and inspiring individuals with proven leadership potential, individuals who will be in senior positions within their respective organisations and society in the years ahead”.

“The dialogue lineage traces back to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conference, whose unique model has proven successful for thousands of emerging leaders, including more than 3,000 Canadians since 1956.”

The statement said three women – Ruthann Rolle, of the Ministry of Tourism, Royann Dean, of Baha Mar, and Keithra Morley, who started the Boys and Girls Club in Nassau – had left Nassau to join others from 21 countries at the beginning of the conference in Ottawa, Canada.

These organisations see the dialogue as an opportunity to develop their own leaders as well as strengthen their corporate brands and reaffirm their corporate culture and core values.
