Bain Town chapter of Women Against Crime to be commissioned at service

THE BAIN Town chapter of Women Against Crime will be commissioned at a special service on Sunday at the St Paul’s Baptist Church on Bias Street, Bain Town, at 3pm.

Women Against Crime, also known as “Ambassadors of Peace”, is an official branch of Bahamas Against Crime. Women Against Crime was formed to bring the “special and unique influence” of women to bear upon the crime crisis in the nation. To date, the organisation says the strategy of using force against force has not achieved the desired results and it is time for a new approach.

Women, whether mothers, wives, sisters or daughters, carry the brunt of the pain and suffering when a family member is either a victim of crime or commits a crime.

While members of the chapter will have no official authority, mandate or weapon, the women will be “armed” with the love, compassion and determination to make a difference in the fight against crime. By enlisting, women enter a covenant to not contribute to the problem and to use their influence in their own spheres.
