Man suspected of murder is arrested

POLICE have arrested a man suspected of murder and four people for drug possession in separate incidents.

Officers from the Southwestern Division arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a recent murder shortly after 3am at St Vincent Road on Friday.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding the suspects responsible for three separate armed robberies on Thursday.

In the first incident, police said a man was driving his red 2003 Honda Accord on Market Street and Cordeaux Avenue when two men armed with a handgun approached him. The men robbed him of the vehicle before speeding away from the scene. Police said it happened at around midnight.

Investigators said a woman was walking on Victoria Boulevard shortly after 6am when a man armed with a handgun pulled up in a grey Honda Stream and robbed her of her handbag before speeding off.

The third incident happened around 11.30am when a man armed with a handgun robbed a convenience store on Gladstone Road. Police said the robber fled the scene with an undermined amount of cash. The getaway car was a Honda, acording to eyewitness reports.

Police are also searching for the suspects responsible for a shooting incident on Thursday sometime around 11.30am.

Reports are that a man was sitting in front of a home at St James Road when five men armed with a handgun approached and shot him before fleeing on foot.

The man was rushed to hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Southwestern Division officers also arrested two men and two women for possession of marijuana while on routine patrol at Gladstone Road on Thursday.
