NPOTSA ACTION

THE New Providence Oldtimers Softball Association continued its regular season action in the Archdeacon William Thompson Softball Park at the Southern Recreation Grounds over the weekend.

The results were posted as follows:

Dozer Pros 13, Giants 6: Dwayne Dean went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in the win. The winning pitcher was Roberto Goodman and the losing pitcher was Paul Moss.

Platinum Care 19, Corner Boys 9: Dennis Davis was 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored in the win. Foster Dorsett was the winning pitcher and Harold Fitzgerald suffered the loss.

J & S Home Boys 13, Hardy XO 3: Edney Bethel went 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored in the win. Sidney Thomas was the winning pitcher and Ivan Hanna got the loss.

Da Boyz 13, Joshua Knights 6: Ritchie Bastian went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in the win. Franklyn ‘Bim’ Martin was the winning pitcher and Johnny Armbrister got tagged with the loss.

J& S Home Boys 10, QHC Divers 5: Edney ‘the Heat’ Bethel was 2-for-3 with a homer, one RBI and three runs scored in the win. Sidney Thomas was the winning pitcher and Lester Stuart got the loss.

Original Crusaders 18, Global Rebels 4: Angelo Dillett went 3-for-4 with a homer, three RBI and three runs scored in the win. Greg Gardiner was the winning pitcher and Val Munroe suffered the loss.

DKS Crusaders 14, Dozer Pros 4: Andy ‘Smudge’ Ford went 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and three runs scored in the win. Hector Rolle was the winning pitcher and Alfred ‘Skater’ Munnings got tagged with the loss.

BODYBUILDING

CAC CORRECTION

It was incorrectly stated that the Bahamas won four gold, four silver and three bronze medals to finish in first place in the standings at the end of the 43rd Central American and Caribbean Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships at the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island over the weekend.

The Bahamas, in fact, actually won seven gold, five silver and four bronze and accumulated a total of 194 points.

REGISTRATION

THE Eleuthera Junior Baseball League of Rock Sound is slated to begin registration for the 2016 season noon to 2pm this Saturday at the baseball park in Rock Sound. Parents are encouraged to bring their children out to register at that time.

President Larry Forbes invites all settlements to register also and bring their team out next season to participate. The 2016 season begins in January.

BSC CLASSIC

THE Baptist Sports Council has announced that its 2015 softball classic will begin at the Banker’s Field in the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex on Saturday, November 7.

The league will feature competition in the under 15, under-19, co-ed and men’s division. The registration fee is $200 per team per division.

Interested teams are urged to contact either Brent Stubbs at stubbobs@gmail.com, Jonique Webb at joniquewebb@hotmail.com or Nicola Major at seek_ye_first@hormail.com by Friday, September 25 to confirm participation.

VOLLEYBALL

BSC CLASSIC

THE Baptist Sports Council has announced that its 2015 volleyball classic will be held at the DW Davis Gymnasium on Saturday, October 31.

The league will comprise of the ladies and men’s divisions or a co-ed will replace the ladies if there isn’t sufficient teams.

The registration fee is $200 per team. Interested teams are urged to contact either Brent Stubbs at stubbobs@gmail.com, Jonique Webb at joniquewebb@hotmail.com or Nicola Major at seek_ye_first@hormail.com by Friday, September 25 to confirm their participation.

WALK:

STRIDE 4 LIFE

THE Walk 4 Cancer Stride 4 Life 2015 is scheduled for 6am October 3, starting from the Cancer Society Building on East Terrace, Centreville. The theme for the event is “Walk A Mile In My Shoe.”

Registration is being held at the Cancer Society of the Bahamas on East Avenue, two doors south of ZNS. Adults will be charged $20 and children under 12 $10, which includes a t-shirt, backpack and other goodies.

Monetary donations are accepted. Breakfast will be on sale.

RUN

CIBC CURE FUN

RUN/WALK

THE 4th Annual CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure Fun Run/Walk is slated to be held 7am October 4 at Goodman’s Bay Corporate Center in Nassau.

Route: Participants will leave from the Goodman’s Bay Corporate Centre, head to Sandals and back.

The Survivor’s (short) route will be from the Goodman’s Bay Corporate Centre to Melia Resort and back.

For the first time ever, walks will also be held in Abaco, Eleuthera, and Freeport on October 3.

Interested persons can contact their local CIBC FirstCaribbean branches for additional information. Registration is open to the public and is $20 for adults and $12 for children, which includes t-shirt, water and breakfast.

All proceeds go to local cancer research and relief organisations.

BSC TRACK

MEET

BECAUSE of the public holiday weekend, the Baptist Sports Council has announced that it will move its 2015 track and field competition from Saturday, October 10 to Saturday, November 14 at the Thomas A Robinson Track and Field Stadium.

At that time, the BSC will attempt to introduce its battle of the band, step and banner competitions between the various associations within the Baptist organisation.
