ATTORNEY Fred Smith, QC, yesterday questioned why police have not interviewed him or any other members of Save The Bays in reference to an alleged murder for hire plot.

Mr Smith also again questioned why Prime Minister Perry Christie and Deputy Prime Minister Philip “Brave” Davis met with police over the investigation when “they had nothing to do” with the alleged scheme.

In an interview with The Tribune, Mr Smith also said he understands the two men at the centre of the alleged murder plot, Livingston “Toggie” Bullard and Wisler “Bobo” Davilma were released from police custody on Friday, however police have not confirmed this.

Last week, Commissioner of Police Ellison Greenslade told reporters that the two alleged criminals were taken into police custody on Wednesday morning.

He did not provide further details. He could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Last month, Mr Greenslade told reporters that he had launched an investigation into allegations that Lyford Cay resident Peter Nygard orchestrated a murderous plot against his billionaire neighbour Louis Bacon and Mr Smith, his chief opponents in an ongoing campaign against development at Nygard Cay.

According to court documents filed by several directors of Save The Bays on March 9, Bullard and Davilma identified themselves as high profile “gang members” and alleged that Mr Nygard gave them a “hit list” of people to murder or “send a message” to.

Four Save The Bays directors - Joseph Darville, Romauld Ferreira, Mr Smith and Mr Bacon - along with Rev C B Moss, who is not a part of the group, filed a writ in the Supreme Court against Mr Nygard and lawyer Keod Smith. They allege that the defendants orchestrated a two-and-a-half-year campaign of fear and violence to “kill or scare off” activists Mr Nygard saw as opponents to development plans for his Lyford Cay property.

On Sunday, Mr Smith said he found it “strange” that police seemed to have “questioned everyone” but Save The Bays’ directors.

“I would like to know why the commissioner is interviewing my prime minister, my deputy prime minister, ‘Toggie’ and ‘Bobo’ but not Peter Nygard. The police have gone out of their way to tell the world they interviewed everyone but they have not even talked to us yet,” Mr Smith said.

“I am just as important as the prime minister and so is Joe Darville and Rev C B Moss. From 2015, we have written and complained about the intimidation, the harassment, the threats, the hate rallies we say Mr Nygard and Mr Keod Smith (allegedly) initiated against us. I understand ‘Toggie’ and ‘Bobo’ have been released. We are not worried about that. The person police really need to be interviewing is Mr Nygard,” Mr Smith added.

Mr Greenslade previously had said the independent investigation would determine whether there is anything of a criminal nature that the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) should be pursuing.

He also said earlier this month, that he received no complaints from anyone mentioned in the 400-page affidavit filed by Save the Bays who claimed their lives were threatened. He also previously said he had not received any reports from anyone who had information of someone doing a “wrong deed” and that as a result of this investigation, several persons “could be arrested and charged or worse.”

Dream............ Dream ........... Dream!!!!!!!!! ........................ this is all a sham for 2017 and it is interesting and disgusting how the PLP government is using the State machinery to spin this Nygard-Bacon drama

The police aren't interviewing Nygard because they don't know what questions to ask. Either that or the PM and DPM gave them strict orders not to speak with him.

When the police met with the PM and DPM I imagine the line of questioning was simple... "How do you want us to proceed?". END OF STORY.

The COP awaits directions from Perry, Brave and AMG ......... those three "musketeers" have to cover this up like what happened with Bahamar ............ but this will turn out to be another Bahamar-like debacle for the PLP-run government (it involves a money trail)

Comrade Sheeprunner12, thanks for the fresh prospective cause I had mistakenly thought the money trail was a foregone conclusion. No?
Comrade how is it you loyal reds nor Kings counsel have never once asked your red leaders, if the two free fishes - came with loafs bread?

Comrade didn't you read the Tribune's latest poll where 7 out 10 reds are telling someone in their party, other than Comrade Tal, to go f$%^ yourself and take your fishes with you?

Tal is correct, the FNM is a mess. What every country needs is a good, effective opposition.

To do that Opposition needs a leader.

For the last 4 years the post of Leader might just as well been vacant.

It is very telling that the police have not talked to the demon of Nygard Cay. He sure must have some powerful friends or maybe the police are scared of the man?

Comrade Asiseeit let's not play games with this, okay.
If the truth is to be told by all, then shouldn't the Commish be talking with all kinds people connected to this mess?
Why is it the calls are for only the chips to fall behind the gates but against only one Lyford Cay resident?
This was once a fight restricted between the two foreigner Billionaires on Bahamland's soil.
But now it's time find out who are the individuals and organizations who have accepted moneys and who may have become influenced, or to do stupid things? In fact, there have been strong accusations that some are no more than fronts intent on destabilizing the people's elected government? I say pick them all up and waterboards them to talk?

Until we waterboard for the truth, unfortunately the reputations of good men's and woman's are at risk of being permanently destroyed.
If millions dollars as reported have indeed flowed, then don't you want to know, who were the beneficiaries to such vast sums money's?

Comrade Tal, I know of only one supposed billionair in Lyford Cay that has a broken our laws. I know of only one supposed billionair that has thumbed his nose at successive governments, doing exactly as he please's contrary to the law of the land. You come to my country, you should obey the law just as I am required to do. I know not about the rest of this dirty affair except it is damaging our country.

This whole mess backfired on Pintard and his party. They were digging ditches for others and they fell in them selves. Why in the world did they follow the "Crazy One":? It is the same tale with the Campbell woman and the Cuban protest. it is a plan that has backfired. who can not see the play smart just like their leader. Fred smith wants to run the Bahamas, the courts and now the Police. Mr Greenslade knows what he is doing and unlike others he needs no help from Fred Smith.

Birdie, if the truth was golden, you still would be to bias and tribal to take it.

Tal, this man has been doing questionable things for 30 odd years. He had some function for the Miss Bahamas contestants in the early nineties. A lot of unhappy families, and some were saying that they could not get the police to do anything.

He has no regard for Bahamians. He just uses them.

Nygard is an old kinky, nasty, debased, misogynistic, vile man ...... with lots of money ............. its the latter point that has kept him here

1

sheeprunner12 8 years ago

I just love this photo of QCFred ........... he has the PLP symbol inverted ........... its like he is saying Perry, Brave and Nygard.......... "up yours"

Comrade red shirts have you changed your ideology so much that It doesn't scare you that the red shirts party once so quick to judge the fanatical right wing - is slowly being taken over by such insurgents?
Possibly not so much by outsiders but red-faces who been there all along just waiting to strike? Certainly, the names of the four main threats, should have started becoming that much more obvious over past several weeks?
Just follow the moneys by certain Comrades who have always been hell-bent on "buying" their own political party?

Economist 8 years ago

Tal, I am not a red shirt, but I see your point. Kind of like the way the number fellers own the PLP.
