Swift’s Morley, Tynes set new national records

SWIFT swimmers Dustin Tynes and Laura Morley set two new national records each in the breaststroke over the past two weekends.

Tynes set new records in the 50 metre breaststroke with a 28.39 and the 100 breast in 1:01.56 and Morley had new records in the 100 breast in 1:11.83,  and the 200 breast in 2:35.03.

Tynes lowered his own records and Morley broke Swift swimmer Albury Higgs’ breaststroke records.

Tynes swam fresh off the heels of his NCAA Championship performance as he swam the next day in the same pool at Georgia Tech (The 1996 Olympics pool) in a long course meet.

Morley swam at the 2016 Speedo Sectional Meet at SPIRE in Geneva, Ohio.

Tynes presently trains with Ohio State University’s men’s swimming team and Morley with the Indiana University women’s swim team.

Both swimmers are trying to make the Olympic team for the Bahamas and their new times will move them up in the rankings and give them a higher FINA point score.

Other Swift swimmers who are training towards the Olympics are Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace who already has the automatic “A” standard in her events(50 and 100 freestyle) and Joanna Evans who will be competing in the US Arena Grand Prix meet in Arizona in two weeks to try and obtain her “A” standard in the 400 and 800 freestyle events.
