AN Eight Mile Rock man was arrested in connection with a murder, and four others were taken into custody following the discovery of a quantity of illegal drugs in the Freeport area, police reported on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old resident of Hanna Hill was taken into custody on Monday by officers of Operation Turf Sweep for questioning into the recent shooting death of a man at Eight Mile Rock on Sunday, April 3.

Police investigations are still continuing into the matter.

In Freeport, four persons were also taken into custody after officers executed a search warrant at a home in the Coral Reef area, where 93lbs of suspected marijuana were discovered.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $4,400.

The four persons are expected to be charged before the Freeport Magistrate’s Court this week.
