THE New Providence Women’s Basketball Association got a chance to show off their new game clocks that they got courtesy of Adrian Fox during the postseason at the DW Davis Gymnasium.

Anthony Swaby, whose responsibility it is for the upkeep of the gymnasium, said it was a delight to partner with Adrian Fox for the new 20-second clock.

“We would like to give our sincere thanks to Mr Adrian Fox for his contribution that allowed us to upgrade our clock system,” Swaby said. “Like someone said, the women’s league has always been the fore runners as far as technology goes and this was just another prime example.

“We were the first league to introduce the online and live stats system and now we are the first to get the new clock system. We are always looking at ways to improve the technology in so far as to improve the overall game and appearance for the league, which we have been doing.”

Swaby said when they approached Fox, he was very receptive to assisting them in their endeavour by providing the new shot clocks that allow the teams to see the gametime and the 20-second time. The whole system is wireless, which was also facilitated by Fox, as the system lights up.

Although they had the system in their possession during the regular season, Swaby said they only decided to put them in place to enhance their post-season.

“We were delighted to be able to show it off during the playoffs and the championships,” said Swaby, who helped coach the Bommer G Lady Operators to a perfect 21-0 win-loss record as they went on to win the championship. “It made life so much better for the league. So we want to thank Adrian Fox and Asue Draw for their assistance.”

Swaby said when the league resumes later this year, they will have another new dimension to showcase.
