Rotary Clubs of The Bahamas. - For more than 17 years, the Rotary Clubs of The Bahamas have hosted the Model United Nations simulation in Nassau, givving over 1,000 students an academic experience to cherish.

Rotary International has a long association with the UN, with Rotarians havingthe highest consultative status of any non-governmental organisation.

The Model United Nations simulates the United Nations within an academic platform. Students take on diplomatic roles for assigned nations in a simulated intergovernmental session.

The Rotary Clubs have worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to train students in peaceful conflict resolution, diplomatic negotiating strategies, along with critical and analytical thinking and speaking skills, while being exposed to complex international issues and different cultures.

This year’s event will be held today at 4.30pm at the auditorium of the College of The Bahamas, with the topic being climate change.

Walk To Wendy. - The second annual Walk To Wendy event takes place tomorrow to raise funds in aid of Dr Wendy Stuart’s medical expenses fund.

The walk starts at Goodman’s Bay Park at 6.30am for a 7am start.

The route runs from the park east on Bay Street to Goodman’s Bay Corporate Centre, east on Seaview Drive, south on Marlin Drive to Sanford Drive, west on Sanford to meet Wendy at the resident of Marjorie Stuart and then returning.

Registration costs $20 per adult (13+) or $10 per child (5-12). Donations are welcomed.

You can register at the Community Pharmacy in Carmichael Road; Island Dental in Dewgard Shopping Plaza in Madeira Street; Logos Book Store in Harbour Bay Shopping Plaza; the Prescription Parlour Pharmacy in East Street South; Westwind Club in Cable Beach opposite Swiss Pastry; and New Providence Community Church in Blake Road.

Zonta Club of Nassau. - The Zonta Club of Nassau will be holding a panel discussion on Gender Parity on Saturday, April 23, from 9:30am-12:30pm at the JW Pinder Building on Collins Avenue.

The panel discussion will be led by advocate Marion Bethel.

Refreshments will be served.
