A 28-year-old man was arrested on Sunday at Freeport Harbour after he was allegedly caught with a quantity of drugs.

According to police reports, shortly before 7pm the man was found with a quantity of suspected cocaine strapped to body. The suspect and the cocaine were handed over to Drug Enforcement Unit.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned sometime this week in connection with the matter.

MIGRANTS

More than a dozen Haitian migrants and a Bahamian were intercepted by USCG officials on Sunday.

The group is expected to be brought to Freeport Harbour, where they will be handed over to Immigration officials. This is the second group in within two days.

On Friday, 16 Cuban migrants were intercepted near Anguilla Cay by the USCG and brought to Grand Bahama where they were handed over to Bahamian authorities.

I went to university "across the pond". Best thing I ever did. Quite a few Bahamians are over there now, but as an overall percentage of Bahamian students abroad I would think the number has dropped over the last couple of decades. Personally, I connect more with the British mentality and culture than I do with the Americans (The Bahamas has become too Americanised if you ask me). Also, university in Britain is cheaper, generally better, and let's not forget that the rest of Europe is right there waiting to be explored. I suggest every Bahamian consider applying to the UK for their higher education. The things you will be exposed to, and the people you will meet over there, cannot be rivalled in the US. .... just my opinion.
