Macedonia only undefeated team in BSC Classic

MACEDONIA remains the only undefeated team left in the Baptist Sports Council’s 2016 Basketball Classic.

On Saturday at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex, Macedonia improved to 3-0 as they handed God’s Squad a 37-30 defeat to highlight the men’s division. With the loss, God’s Squad dropped to 0-2.

In the 19-and-under division, the standings show a number of teams vying for the top spot, including Macedonia, Cousin McPhee, Good Samaritan, Eagles Nest and Mekaddish Ministries. Macedonia def. Eagles Nest A 36-30, Good Samaritan B def. Mekaddish 26-23 and Mekaddish took their frustration out on Good Samaritan A team 32-27. And in the 15-and-under division, Macedonia opened their best-of-seven championship series against Eagles Nest by pulling off a 24-23 nailbaiter in overtime.

Eagles Nest 23

Andrew Sthilaire hit two of his seven points to seal the overtime win after Emanuel Alexander canned one of two free throws to give Macedonia a 1-0 lead in their 15-and-under best-of-seven championship series. The game was tied 21-21 at the end of regulation.

Tavon Dill added five points in the win.

Kenvon Farrington, who scored the Eagles Nest’s only two points in the extra period, had five in a losing effort. Alexander Alteme led their attack with six.

Macedonia 36,

Eagles Nest A 30

DeVontee Gibson and Kenrick Charlton both scored six points and Troy Marshall added five as Macedonia pulled even at 1-1 in the 19-and-under division.

Ricarno Nixon scored eight and T’Shad Cornish added five in the loss.

Good Samaritan B 26,

Mekaddish 23

Charles Rahming canned 13 points and Mark Sawyer added 11 as the Good Samaritan B team won. Philip Brown, ChadVaughn James and Rick Sands all had five in the loss.

Mekaddish 32,

Good Samaritan A 27

Philip Browen came up with a game high 13 points and ChadVaughn James added six as Mekaddish rebounded from their earlier loss. LeVanti Roberts matched the high honours with 13 and Christopher Johnson helped out with nine in the loss.

Macedonia 37,

God’s Squad 33

Delano Knowles scored 15 and Lamar Saunders chipped in with five in the win for the undefeated Macedonia men’s team.

Avery Walker came up with 10 and both Barry Stuart and Lamond Dorsett had six in the loss.

Golden Gates 31,

Eagles Nest 27

Randy Williams scored a game high 13 points and Dominique Beadle had six as Golden Gates got their second straight win after a season opening loss.
