A Freeport man was arraigned in the Magistrate’s Court on Friday charged with murder in connection with the stabbing death of a man in the Drake Avenue area of Freeport.

Trevor Williams, 43, of Drake Avenue, appeared in court three in Freeport before Magistrate Rengin Johnson. It is alleged that on August 2, in Freeport, the accused intentionally caused the death of Barry Ernest Thompson, 46, also of Drake Avenue.

Thompson was discovered with his throat slashed and multiple stab wounds about the body around 3am on August 2 outside an apartment complex on Drake Avenue. When police and EMS personnel arrived at the scene, he was already dead.

His death was the 11th homicide on Grand Bahama this year.

Williams was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge. The matter was adjourned to December 10, when a preliminary inquiry will be held. He was denied bail and remanded to the Department of Correctional Service until then.
