FREE National Movement (FNM) Senators Carl Bethel and Dr Duane Sands have resigned from the Senate with immediate effect.

Dr Sands told The Tribune that he resigned because he “served at the pleasure” of FNM Leader Dr Hubert Minnis, who “requested the resignations” in light of the fact that seven of the party’s 10 MPs had written Governor General Dame Marguerite Pindling requesting his removal as leader of the Official Opposition.

The MPs have requested that Long Island MP Loretta Butler-Turner be appointed leader of the Official Opposition in place of Dr Minnis.

This is just the tip of the iceberg ........... Minnis is dead for this term ........ now we have to hope for a grand coalition to confront the PLP ........ the PLP wants Minnis to remain as Opposition & FNM leader because it will be an easy win for the PLP in 2017 ....... now the PLP is scared because they know that the majority of the people have a clear-cut bold group who will spare NO efforts, create a broad coalition with the other anti-PLP groups and fight the dirty PLP pound for pound ........ this is good for our democracy (our people just has to embrace it)

Let them remain part of the party since only one of them is ratified a candidate in the person of Loretta. Minnis is still leader of the party so he still call the shots, run an independent against Loretta, win the seat and then join the FNM. (Sounds and looks familiar.) That would be more devastating to her than having her resign from the party. One thing for sure, she can't win in Montague, St Annes and especially Long Island. The people in Long Island had planned to run someone as independent anyhow because they did not want her. Dr. Minnis should have ratified Andre to run in Long Island in thew first place when she was complaining about Rollins and Minnis undermining her. He would have a better chance with that. Now the two hugging up like nothing happened. Politics do make some strange bedfellows.

Minnis is still the failed leader of the FNM.

All LBT and the six have to do now is do an outstanding job opposing government for the next few months. Remind these clueless FNMs what actual opposition looks like. Excite them again and who knows? Might actually get rid of the worst leader the FNM has ever had....
