BAHAMAS Telecommunications Company (BTC) has celebrated a new milestone: the official launch into the market of its new FLOW TV package to residents and businesses in Bimni, along with its internet, voice and mobile services.

This comes after BTC began testing its package on the island last October, offering 170 IPTV channels in Bimini, the first island to have the TV packages fully available.

Inagua became the second island to gain access to the packages, with Cat Island, Andros and Long Island expected to get them next.

New Providence, officials say, will be the last to get the services.

In a press statement, BTC said: “FLOW TV, a brand assimilated from BTC’s parent company Cable and Wireless Communications (CWC), brings a wealth of choice and convenience and the power of the CWC and Columbus International networks behind it. CWC acquired top regional television provider Columbus International last year and provides television services under the FLOW brand services in nine markets throughout the region including Jamaica, Cayman and Trinidad. BTC will be the tenth country in the region to provide “FLOW TV.”

FLOW TV is Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) which means, transmitted over an internet connection, it brings with it clearer more reliable picture and new interactive features which are expected to be a hit with customers.

BTC CEO Leon Williams also said: “This service has already exceeded expectations in our first customers, and will continue to do so as we launch throughout the islands. Customers are in control with FLOW TV and have the ability to experience television on their time and their terms through our cloud recording, universal DVR and other interactive features.”

BTC also announced last week that Resorts World Bimini has requested installation of FLOW IPTV and other BTC broadband internet products and services throughout their 305-room Hilton hotel and staff quarters.

Mr Williams said the residents, business owners and tourists to Bimini would be the first to benefit from the company’s commitment to deliver ‘quad play’ - four BTC services in one package.

The first phase of Hilton at Resorts World Bimini is open with the second phase nearing completion. The BTC installations are expected to take approximately eight weeks. The project has started with IP installations at each of the 14 dormitory buildings via fibre optic cable.

Michelle Malcolm, Director of Public Affairs at Resorts World Bimini, said she expects the BTC package to enhance guest experience.

“Resorts World Bimini offers only the very best to our guests and that extends to cutting-edge, in-room entertainment. We are proud to have BTC facilitate our communication needs throughout the property.

“With the four services they are providing, including FLOW TV, we now have a fully integrated communications solution for the property.”
