SUPREME Court Justice Ian Winder has again acceded to the Crown's request to further adjourn the government's winding-up petition of Baha Mar until May 2.

The request was made on Monday morning by Crown lawyer Loren Klein, who said notwithstanding a few new developments since the stalled Cable Beach mega resort went into receivership, the initial request for two months for stakeholders to conclude negotiations were "overly-ambitious".

Respective creditors and stakeholders in the project - China Export Import Bank, CCA Bahamas and various government agencies which are part of the proceedings - had no objection to the adjournment.

The initial hearing was scheduled last November.

I said it long before the very first shovel hit the ground out there at Cable Beach; which is, if persons think that they can give the 'pink receipt' (mortgage paper for ownership) for the breadbasket of The Bahamas to a sovereign government like China, and then think that they can get it back under the normal terms of what was agreed, they gotta to be delusional and out of their minds.

If only those in power would realize this / not be so easily corrupted by the promise of kickbacks. Just look at the Chinese track record in the region, internationally, and back in China.

Anyone who trusts these guys is either stupid, or blinded by greed

"Over ambitious"? Does that equate to false hope? The resort cannot open this year on the current track, or maybe any track. Not considering the massive rework rumoured to be needed, rehiring of employees and marketing. The government really should have thought this through before they barrelled hell bent down a road to fold the company up. Months later it's really looking like the most ridiculous strategy ever.

OMG, I’ve commented so much on this Baha Mar topic in the past and have shed so much light on the “Truth”……but this one takes the cake……my past post have literally called out the court and specifically Justice Winder as being a puppet…..just how far down the road can you kick a can….it’s an island, surely the road ends. The lack of “Testicular Fortitude” to once and for all stand by a deadline previously set so as to progress to the next level which everybody was so on board with back in June during the Bankruptcy…….I just don’t know what world of reality the Justice system is living in? Isn’t there supposed to be a separation of executive and judicial branches?

Don't think he's a puppet. My guess is he's very aware that it would be very bad for the Bahamas if Bahamar were actually liquidated. The decision to try the case in the Bahamas was a reasonable one as the assets are here. In my mind, the best outcome would be to give Izmirilian his hotel

I'm speechless. That's the only word I have left to describe my experience of the PLP term at governance.

It's now become abundantly cleat that the "winding up petition" by this government was 100% a stab at Izmirlian. If not , why would they delay the proceeding any further.

It appears this government is willing to put all the jobs and potential economic benefits aside in order to "get back" as someone (i.e. Izmirlian), and clearly they could care less about the costs to our country.

In the words of Donald Trump, "OUR COUNTRY IS GOING TO HELL"; he was referring to the USA but this is also the case in The Bahamas; hence, this is the reason for us all to become more POLITICAL in order to stop this downfall of Our Beloved Country.

All of what we are saying in our posts, in fact, goes to emphasizes THE NEED FOR ALL OF US BAHAMIANS TO GET POLITICAL. All eligible Bahamians need to register as soon as possible. That is the only we can be a part of change for a positive difference.

THIS TIME AROUND, THE NEED IS URGENT AND PRESSING FOR ALL BAHAMIANS TO 'GET POLITICAL' and REGISTER NOW for the next general election.

PLEASE GO AND REGISTER A.S.A.P and do more by encouraging others to do so as well. - Thank you.
