FIVE Cuban migrants were discovered on Anguilla Cay by US Coast Guard officials early this week and taken to Grand Bahama on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, the four men and one woman were spotted on board a rustic vessel on Monday near the cay. On reaching the small island, they abandoned their vessel and set up camp.
On Tuesday, the USCG Cutter Paul Clarke went to the cay and collected the migrants.
They arrived at Lucayan Harbour around 8am on Wednesday and were turned over to Bahamian authorities.
Department of Immigration Press Officer Napthali Cooper said the migrants claimed to have left Cuba on Saturday and were heading for the United States. They were taken to the Department of Immigration in Grand Bahama to be processed.
Mr Cooper said the migrants will be flown to the Detention Centre in New Providence to await repatriation.

Anguilla Cay Is sound west of Andros.... Yet the US is taking them further North to G Bahama... To be taken to back south east to Nassau... to chill out for a while... until we get them a next flight back South West to Cuba...
