Scottsdale Vixens win NPVA title

WHILE the New Providence Volleyball Association ladies’ champions were decided on Friday night at the DW Davis Gymnasium, the men have been extended to Wednesday night.

The Johnson Lady Truckers came out ready to not go down in three matches and won the first set. However after Tia Charlow was injured they were not able to hold on to win the match.

The mighty Scottsdale Vixens held on after losing the first set to win the match. They have now won 12 consecutive NPVA championship titles. The set scores were 25-22, 18-25, 24-26 and 20-25.

“Congratulations to the 2015-2016 NPVA champions Scottsdale Vixens, who celebrated with their sponsor in the gym to witness his team winning another NPVA title, thanks so much for your continued sponsorship of the team and support of the NPVA,” said a press release.

The men’s matchup was just as exciting.

The Scotiabank Defenders came with their game faces on and intent on not being swept in three matches. In three closely contested sets, the Scotiabank Defenders lived to see another game in these championships by winning the match. The set scores were 23-25, 25-27 and 26-28.

The men’s championship series is scheduled to continue 8pm Wednesday at DW Davis. If necessary, they will play again on Friday.
