Tennis ace Philip Major makes strong start to year

His run at his latest stop on the pro circuit may have come to an end but 19-year-old Bahamian tennis ace Philip Major has made a strong start to the year.

Major was eliminated from the main draw of the ITF Turkey F6 Futures in Turkey with a 6-2, 6-3 loss to American Quentin Vega. He advanced to the main draw following a convincing victory over Julian Onken – seeded No.6 in the tournament – winning 6-4,6-0.

He also enjoyed wins over Mert Altinalev from Turkey (6-2,6-3) and No.9 seed Milan Habrman from Slovakia (6-2,6-2).

It was his third main draw qualification in three weeks of the International Tennis Pro Circuit Event and he continues to make a name for himself in Europe.

He will have another opportunity next week on this tour as he competes along with Joshua Turnquest in the next Pro Circuit Tournament in Turkey. Turnquest also participated in the tournament, but lost 6-0,6-3 to Onken.
