FNM infighting will come to end

Please allow me to respond in kind to an editorial in your paper that commented on a letter written to your paper by one Kevin Evans on February 15th, on “attack dogs” in the FNM party.

Also the unwelcome comment of racism in a negative light.

The FNM party is accused of not being much different from the PLP in its governance. But I beg to differ in my humble way. I thank God that men like Sir Cecil, Sir Kendal, Garnet Levarity and his son, the Hon Maurice Moore, G Shepherd, Dr Curtis McMillan and many others saw it necessary to begin a process for democracy in a nation that was and is 80 per cent people of colour.

We have to be careful not to treat our minorities, which are Caucasian, in a manner that is not healthy, while we remain aware that what our population is in need of is an economic adjustment, that would allow more of the people of colour to become employers instead of employees.

We are for the most part the market for the minority. And anchor investments are not helping.

The infighting in the FNM will work itself out. I don’t see The Rt Honourable Hubert Ingraham being the one like he did before, to appear now that general election in the air to appear to the helm, that had to be held by someone else as he was away by choice, not force, as a people we have to mature, and allow new leaders to exercise their visions. Comparing individuals by personality and not what they bring to the table is emotional.

As a maturing nation we have to move beyond selfish achievement and think more for the good of the majority. The grassroots will not improve if politics doesn’t allow them to grow beyond hand outs.

All of us feel hardship, but grassroots even more.
