Police investigate after man dies from wound to his body

POLICE in New Providence are looking into the circumstances that led to a man dying in hospital after being found on Wulff Road, near East Street with a wound in his body.

According to Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle, officer-in-charge of the Central Detective Unit, officers still do not know how the victim was injured.

Chief Supt Rolle said police have no details in connection with the matter and are unable to classify the death at this time.

The unidentified victim died in hospital on Sunday. According to police, he was found shortly after midnight suffering from a wound. The man was taken to hospital where he later died.

“We are still in the early stages of our investigation into this matter and are still unsure as to what transpired to lead the victim to hospital,” Chief Supt Rolle told The Tribune.

“We are looking into all the details with this one. What we do know is that the victim was transported to the hospital with an injury.”

Chief Supt Rolle said the injury could have been inflicted in a number of ways. “He could have been hit by a car or assaulted – at this point we are working to determine what happened.”
