YEAR after year, come rain or shine, sisters Megan and Tia Ferguson would spend their leisure time attending various festivals throughout Bahamas together.

However, for their 2015 New Year’s resolutions they vowed not only to attend cultural festivals for their own amusement, but to create a business with which they could make money at these events. From this idea came Tipsy Sisters, a mobile bartending company with a focus on speciality drinks.

“Megan and I consulted with the idea of setting up a bar at festivals and private functions. At first we were a bit hesitant, but finally we gave it a try and the rest is history. Tipsy Sisters offers speciality cocktails and fruit Jell-o shots,” Tia told Tribune Woman.

She said the overall goal of the company is to be unique and independent while becoming a staple of the Bahamian economy. They hope to also cater to international customers.

This year, Tipsy Sisters is celebrating its first anniversary and the ladies are looking forward to offering their services at Festival Rum Bahamas this coming weekend.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management at the College of the Bahamas and employed at Atlantis as a front desk coordinator, Tia said she enjoys learning about different cultures, attending and taking part in festivals like Rum Bahamas and travelling.

“If I can do those all the days of my life, I would be the happiest woman alive. I am truly passionate about owning my own business hence the creation of Tipsy Sisters. As I continue along my career path, I believe by branding myself, being approachable and self-motivated, will help me to accomplish all of my goals,” she said.

Megan shares her sister’s sentiments, being a jetsetter who believes in living life to its fullest and living your dreams while building a future. A banker by profession and currently pursuing a degree in Business Management at Omega College, Megan is passionate about helping others, and philanthropy is near to her heart. One of her major goals in life is to become a successful entrepreneur.

“The biggest influence in my life is my support system – my mother and father, Patricia and Wayne Darville, who have always given me the best and have always encouraged my individuality. They have always taught me to dream big and that the sky is the limit. With both of my parents being entrepreneurs this is something that I feel has given me the drive to go after my dreams,” said Megan.

Tia said her mother, Monique Knowles, is also a huge influence in her life, as she is the definition of a strong woman and possesses such admirable qualities such confidence, independence, being hard-working and God-fearing.

“She has taught me and instilled in me values that some persons could only wish about having. Many times we disagree, but at the end of the day her words of wisdom stick with me every day,” she said.

So far, the sisters said the feedback on their company has been mainly positive, with some constructive criticism, for instance, their clients would love for the mobile business to be present at more cultural festivals this year.

“Tipsy Sisters plan for 2016 is to definitely expand and become a household name as well as bottling a few of our speciality drinks and to place Tipsy Sisters on an international level with the Bahamas as our flagship. 2016 is definitely our year and with the momentum gained from 2015 we only see the sky as the limit as we are definitely going to be present at more festivals as recommended. Within the next few months we will definitely have our launch party that will brand us and make us well known,” the sisters said.
