WHEN the smoke clears on March 6, dozens of Chickcharney will have bested the toughest obstacle course on the island.

The Chickcharney Challenge, now in its second year and third iteration, has expanded its course, plotted new routes and hit its participants with new, gut-wrenching obstacles.

This year’s course is called ‘Marooned’ because participants will find themselves stranded on obstacles surrounded by water.

Participants will meet a surprise around every corner, according to Chickcharney Chirren’s newest coordinator Leah Treco.

“We have made this year’s challenge much more exciting and intense,” said Treco.

“We listened to what last year’s participants wanted and we tried to deliver on that.”

Non-swimmers need not worry about the ‘Marooned’ obstacles, any obstacle can be circumvented, the water will not be deep, but all obstacles must be completed to earn top prizes.

“This is not a race,” Treco said. “This is a course designed to encourage people to challenge themselves, to find their strengths and weaknesses and overcome their fears. Some people form teams and depend on those teammates to encourage them and help them through the course. That is the spirit of the Chickcharney Challenge.”

The Chickcharney Chirren is a small company with big dreams for fitness, wellness and team play. The Chickcharney Challenge has become a much sought after team-building activity for several companies.

The Chickcharney Challenge takes place at 9am at Clifton Heritage Park, with a “fete-at-the-finish” for participants and spectators.

Men, women and children are welcome to participate - children with the consent of a parent or guardian. Individuals and teams can easily register online at www.challengeyourself.fit or at Pappasurf in the Henrea Carlette Plaza, Cable Beach.

“We want everyone to come and enjoy the event,” said Treco. “We create an atmosphere of fun and wellness, because that’s what we want people to feel, happy, well and accomplished.”
